Onwards Norfolk: Training for the Hospitality & Leisure sector

From January 2022, we will be working in partnership with Norfolk’s Business Improvement Districts to deliver a variety of training programmes for those working – or seeking work – in the hospitality and leisure sector.

These will enable over 500 people from within Norwich, King’s Lynn and Great Yarmouth to develop the skills, experience and knowledge needed to develop their careers or start careers in the hospitality industry.

You can access as many of them as you want and need to. Many of them are certified training courses meaning that you get recognised qualifications.

Age Verification

The Age Verification training will provide staff with the key knowledge and understanding of issues surrounding age verification, identification and how to comply with the law. It will also equip participants with information on creating an effective age verification policy.

Allergens

This course is designed to give all staff who handle food the necessary knowledge of allergies and intolerances, helping to keep customers safe. Attendees will learn how to identify the main allergens, comply with food allergen laws, and reduce contamination.

Conflict Management

This training is designed to provide staff and management with the skills and knowledge needed to manage conflict amongst both employees and customers, including prevention, intervention and de-escalation strategies.

Customer Service

This training will provide staff with both the knowledge and skills needed to better serve customers, and improve the value and satisfaction they derive from and contribute to the business.

Employment Law

The training will provide staff with the fundamentals of employment law and equip attendees to handle any employment issues that arise within the day to day running of the business.

Equality & Diversity: Accredited

Equality and Diversity Inclusion training (EDI) will provide staff with an understanding of the different forms of discrimination, harassment, and victimisation that can occur in the workplace, both amongst staff and customers.

Fire Safety Awareness: Accredited

This training is designed to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of The Fire Safety Order 2005 and The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. They will also obtain the knowledge to implement emergency procedures.

Food Safety Level 1: Accredited

This course will provide employees with a greater understanding of safe food handling and the importance of food hygiene. Level 1 training will equip attendees with basic food hygiene knowledge, enabling them to produce safe food.

Food Safety Level 2: Accredited

This course will provide employees with a greater understanding of safe food handling and the importance of food hygiene. Level 2 will give attendees the relevant knowledge pertaining to the hazards and controls associated with food preparation and storage.

Health & Safety Level 1: Accredited

This course provides attendees with a practical understanding of workplace health and safety, as well as their responsibilities when it comes to protecting themselves and others from hazards. This will include identifying hazards and enacting control measures to safeguard staff and customers within the workplace.

Introduction to First Aid: Accredited

This course will equip staff with the skills to deal with any medical emergencies that may arise within their business. Attendees will learn how to provide initial, immediate First Aid treatment, and how to create safer work environments for themselves and their colleagues.

Mental Health First Aid: Accredited

This training provides staff with the tools to proactively manage the mental health and wellbeing of everyone in the workplace. This will include advice on how to promote and maintain healthy working spaces, and minimise the impact of mental ill health on the business and its staff.

Personal Licence Holder Level 1: Accredited

This course will provide attendees with a Level 1 Award for Personal Licence Holders (APLH). It is designed to equip attendees with a clear understanding of the law and regulation frameworks associated with being a personal license holder, and includes an assessment at the end of the course.

Vulnerability Management

Our vulnerability training is designed for anyone working in the night time economy to learn how to support and recognise vulnerable customers, and create a positive and safe environment.
