The Local Government Association (LGA) engaged NTES to produce a set of case studies of councils’ work on managing the evening and night-time economy to support a new guide for councillors on the Licensing Act 2003, due to be published in the summer of 2019. The case studies were commissioned to highlight innovative and cost-effective initiatives to tackling crime and disorder, regulatory approaches, partnership working (e.g. between licensing authorities, the police, licensed premises, health services), use of Safe Spaces and training for those working in the night-time economy.
Together with the LGA, NTES identified a number of councils and partnerships for the case studies. We spoke with officers at the councils to discuss the projects they are involved in, wrote these up in line with LGA style guidelines and secured approval from the councils and partnerships for the case studies. As a result, the LGA has signed off eleven high-quality case studies to support the guide for councillors.
